2022 In Review

2022 In Review

As this year comes to a close, we look back on an eventful year. Since 2011 Trusted Energy have looked for ways to help you use renewable energy in your home, heating your house without costing the earth.

Before we look at how the world of renewable energy has changed over the year, we update you on our opening hours this holiday season.

Trusted Energy will close at 12noon on 21st December 2022, opening again at 8.30 on 3rd January 2023. Our Out Of Hours Emergency numbers will be manned during this time, and all messages received over the holidays will be replied to as soon as possible when we are back.

With world events causing a wide range of issues to fuel and other supplies in the UK, many have started to look more seriously at renewable energy. Perhaps you are one?

Over the year, we have looked at a variety of ways that renewable energy can help families continue to heat their homes without costing the earth. Did you read our review of Cop26? Look out for our review of Cop27, and what has been achieved (or not) since then.

The end of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) was quickly replaced by the new Boiler Upgrade System (BUS), giving homeowners a different type of saving, with lower up front costs and a simpler set up when claiming.

If you are looking for ways to help your environment but can’t update your energy type, there are other ways to make the break. Our blog from March, ‘Four Ways to help fossil fuels go extinct’, explored ways to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, from reusable bags to electric cars. Working together we can make a difference.

Some good news was brought to us in the Governments Spring Budget Statement – ‘the VAT on energy saving materials such as solar panels, heating pumps and roof insulation from 5% to zero for 5 years‘. Read more on this here.

And finally, with all the change in fuel prices, cutting back on heating and layering up with warm clothes, we were regularly asked is now is a good time to replace a gas boiler and exactly how much would it benefit a household? We obviously can’t be dogmatic about it, but depending on the energy source, the quality of your heat pump and the subsidies available, you could save £3500 or more in fuel costs over 7 years. We look at the benefits, costs and financial bottom line in our blog here.

Its been an amazing 10 years in business, we’ve enjoyed spending them with you. As always, for impartial advice on renewable energy solutions that suit your life, contact Trusted Energy today.
