The owner of an electrical contractor business first contacted our head office enquiring about cost saving renewable installations for their factory units. Following the initial enquiry, a meeting with the client and a consultation and survey were carried out along with energy performance calculations. The resulting recommendation was for a Solar Photovoltaic system of 140 solar panels with an annual output of just over 28000kWh.
ReneSola MetaSole system was specified which is especially designed to suit the particular roof in question. It works by the clamp bases being screwed directly on the crest of the trapezoidal sheet, making for an efficient and tidy installation – the 140 panels were installed on the roof in 2 working days. An electrical team of 2 men completed the complex wiring of 7 PV strings linked to 3 separate Samil Solar Lake inverters, with approximately 500m of cabling, a new 3 phase distribution board and 10 sets of isolators. The installation was carried out within just 6 days.
Results and Savings
A year down the line, we were asked by the owner to also supply and install a Ground Source Heat Pump for the 576 metre squared factory that the solar PV panels had been installed upon.
Based on the heat loss calculations, a NIBE 17kW heat pump was installed along with a NIBE VPB 300L hot water cylinder along with a NIBE UKV 300L buffer tank.
Other components included a MagnaClean Pro 2 magnetic system filter, a primary district circulation pump, expansion vessel, a RHI approved heat meter, etc. All of the pipework was insulated to a high standard using Armaflex Class O lagging.
As always, the entire system was designed, supplied, installed and commissioned by ourselves with all aspects of the project managed in-house. Following commission of any heat pump installation we supply all the documents, guidance and support for application of the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme as well as an optional maintenance plan.
