Following the initial survey and energy performance calculations, we advised the customer to install internal wall insulation against the solid brick walls, and suggested a Ground Source Heat Pump as a reliable and convenient renewable energy heating solution.  A NIBE F1145 12kW solution was specified and calculations showed an anticipated halving of the heating bill.

The customers moved in early December, having to use electric heaters to keep warm.  We were able to get on-site early January, setting the system to work after only 4 days.

Due to space constraints the first ground loop was laid, the pipe work tested and the trench filled before the digging of the second loop was carried out.  Each trench took the customer 2-3 days to dig with a mini-digger but with the help of a pipe de-coiler, the 600 metres of pipe took just a couple of hours to position!  The saturated sandy soil conditions and absence of stones meant there was no additional sand required to protect the pipe in the trench.

New radiators were also installed based on our detailed room-by-room heat loss analysis.
